Melrose is a private day nursery school for 0-5 year old children. We have been established for over 30 years and are extremely proud of our reputation for offering the best in quality childcare and the finest pre-school education.
We are open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm every weekday excluding public holidays and the Christmas break.
At Melrose we aim to provide a warm, happy, stimulating environment where children will enjoy developing intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.
The nursery is designed to provide a cosy, homely but stimulating and secure environment. Children are grouped according to their age and stage of development in bright, spacious self-contained rooms. The nursery has a lovely secure garden which as well as a large lawn, has a good sized paved area to allow for outdoor play all year round.
Our children learn through a wide range of play experiences which gradually become more directed and eventually children are encouraged into more formal work; reading, writing and numbers in readiness for infant school.
About Our Staff
At Melrose we are very proud to have a great team of staff, some of whom have been with us for many years. Staff are selected not only for their qualifications (all our staff are qualified or completing qualifications) but also for their enthusiasm, friendliness and sincerity about their love of children.
The team is led by the Nursery Manager, Lynda Hughes (NVQ 3) who has had over 20 years experience in a variety of nursery settings . Lynda is supported by our Deputy, Laura Preston (B Tec) who has been at Melrose for the last 8 years. All our staff are encouraged to continue training by attending regular courses and all hold an up to date first aid certificate.
